BERKELEY — Police said officers arrested a 35-year-old Berkeley woman on suspicion of multiple charges last week after she used force and language to detain a delivery driver, authorities said.

At 7:54 p.m. on April 18, officers responded to a report of a disturbance at Delaware Street and McGee Avenue, police said Tuesday.

When officers arrived, they learned that the woman believed she had seen a package-delivery person driving too fast in the area.

After the woman and her boyfriend decided to pursue the person and caught up to him in the 1700 block of Delaware Street, she confronted him, using force and language disparaging of people of color, police said.

Police arrested the woman on suspicion of false imprisonment, battery with bodily injury, using offensive words in a public place and willfully threatening a person based on perceived characteristics.

The woman was not listed in county jail, according to a county records check Tuesday evening.
