ITHACA, N.Y. (WBNG) -- Authorities in Ithaca, N.Y. arrested one person on multiple charges related to hate crimes.

On Oct. 20, the Ithaca Police Department says officers responded to a business and found an anti-Semitic slur written on a sign and determined the business owner was targeted because of their religion.

Police say they've received reports of anti-Semitic posters being put up in public places, anti-Semitic graffiti, and a second business being vandalized because of the owner's religion.

On Oct. 27, police identified a suspect and conducted multiple investigations. In an unnamed location, police say officers recovered hate posters and items consistent with explosives. In separate locations, also unnamed, police recovered rifle parts.

The name of the suspect was not released.

The Ithaca Police Department says the suspect has not been released to the community.

Ithaca Police Chief Dennis Naylor wrote in a news release:

“There is no tolerance for any acts of targeted hatred and bigotry in our community. We at the Ithaca Police Department will always put all resources and energies towards addressing such incidents and as a result we were able to quickly identify the person involved and prevent any further criminal acts from occurring.”

The investigation is ongoing.
